Purpose built locally and launched in 1986, the Lakeland Queen has only ever sailed on Lake Rotorua and is a well-loved icon of Rotorua. She is powered by a 240 hp Cummins diesel engine driving the eight-bladed stern paddle wheel through a hydraulic system.
Even though she was built locally, the Lakeland Queen is modelled on the Mississippi river boats, which are shallow draft, stern-driven paddle steamers designed for shallow rivers, making the boat ideal for Lake Rotorua with its shallow lakebed.
After a period of hibernation, the Lady of the Lake is under new ownership and has been fully restored to her former glory, with a new, modern interior that preserves her original character.
Step aboard the Lakeland Queen for a unique New Zealand cruise experience, embracing the spirit of manaakitanga (hospitality) and the immersive beauty and culture of Rotorua from a perspective you won’t find anywhere else.
Whether it’s for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, relax and take in the stunning scenery of Ohinemutu, Mokoia Island, and Sulphur Point while our team provides a tasty à la carte meal that can cater to all dietary requirements.
